Bakar Hutan versus Hijaunya Vegetasi

Bakar Hutan versus Hijaunya Vegetasi

Capture Embung/Waduk Tambakboyo from the Sky...

Capture Embung/Waduk Tambakboyo from the Sky...

Gambar 1.

Could you help thole to do the analysis ???

Thole waiting for the informations and sharing of your analysis...

Abstract

In this paper, we developed a new geospatial database of paddy rice agriculture for 13 countries in South and Southeast Asia. These countries have ¨30% of the world population and ¨2/3 of the total rice land area in the world. We used 8-day composite images (500-m spatial resolution) in 2002 from the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) sensor onboard the NASA EOS Terra satellite. Paddy rice fields are characterized by an initial period of flooding and transplanting, during which period a mixture of surface water and rice seedlings exists. We applied a paddy rice mapping algorithm that uses a time series of MODIS-derived vegetation indices to identify the initial period of flooding and transplanting in paddy rice fields, based on the increased surface moisture. The resultant MODIS-derived paddy rice map was compared to national agricultural statistical data at national and subnational levels. Area estimates of paddy rice were highly correlated at the national level and positively correlated at the subnational levels, although the agreement at the national level was much stronger. Discrepancies in rice area between the MODIS-derived and statistical datasets in some countries can be largely attributed to: (1) the statistical dataset is a sown area estimate (includes multiple cropping practices); (2) failure of the 500-m resolution MODIS-based algorithm in identifying small patches of paddy rice fields, primarily in areas where topography restricts field sizes; and (3) contamination by cloud. While further testing is needed, these results demonstrate the potential of the MODIS-based algorithm to generate updated datasets of paddy rice agriculture on a timely basis. The resultant geospatial database on the area and spatial distribution of paddy rice is useful for irrigation, food security, and trace gas emission estimates in those countries.

Geospatial Imaging for Climate Change

Geospatial Imaging for Climate Change presented in Plenary Sessions : Geospatial Imaging Technologies and Sustainable Development
Map World Forum 2009 - February 10, 2009 HICC, Hyderabad, India

Dr Shailesh Nayak, Secretary

The changes in atmospheric concentration of green house gases and aerosols, in solar radiation and land surface properties have altered the energy balance of the climate system of the earth. The increase in green house gases is primarily due to fossil fuel use, land use changes and agriculture. In order to understand the causes of change and their likely impact, the observation needs to encompass atmosphere (cloud properties, radiative energy fluxes, precipitation, aerosol properties, wind, humidity, temperature, etc), atmospheric chemistry, solar radiation, land (land cover, land use changes, vegetation dynamics, soil moisture, etc), ocean (temperature, salinity, phytoplankton, sea surface wind, sea surface topography) and cryosphere (land ice, sea ice, snow cover). During the last thirty years, host of satellites have provided very useful data on many of the above mentioned parameters. Microwave radiometers and optical multispectral data have provided vital data on changes in ice cover on polar regions and glacier retreat on Himalayas. Altimeters provided data on sea-level-rise and on ocean circulation especially during the last fifteen years. Thermal radiometers provided data on rise of sea surface temperature. The growth and decay of ozone hole over the years has been monitored by satellites. It is necessary to evolve a measurement strategy (overlap, sampling, calibration and data continuity) to improve accuracy and scientific content for future satellites.

Penginderaan Jauh Vegetasi - Indeks Vegetasi

Vegetasi biasanya diamati melalui pendakatan indeks vegetasi..

Vegetation Indices are robust spectral measures of the amount of vegetation present on the ground in a particular pixel. They typically involve transformations of two or more bands designed to enhance the vegetation signal and allow for precise inter-comparisons of spatial and temporal variations in terrestrial photosynthetic activity.

The NDVI is calculated from these individual measurements as follows:

NDVI=(NIR-RED)/(NIR+RED)

where RED and NIR stand for the spectral reflectance measurements acquired in the red and near-infrared regions, respectively. These spectral reflectances are themselves ratios of the reflected over the incoming radiation in each spectral band individually, hence they take on values between 0.0 and 1.0. By design, the NDVI itself thus varies between -1.0 and +1.0.

Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI)
NDVI = (NIR – Red) / (NIR + Red)
- Most common vegetation index
- Value is always between +1 and -1 with green vegetation closer to +1 and no vegetation close to 0
- Negative values are possible for non-vegetated features
- Somewhat sensitive to radiometric contaminants

Enhanced Vegetation Index (EVI)

- Developed to improve upon NDVI
- Output as a standard MODIS product
EVI = G*[(NIR-Red)/NIR+C1*Red-C2*Blue+L)] where G, C1, C2, and L are coefficients:
G = Gain factor (2.5 for MODIS)
L = Canopy background adjustment (1 for MODIS)
C2 = Atmospheric aerosol resistance (6 for MODIS)
C2 = Atmospheric aerosol resistance (7.5 for MODIS)
- These coefficients reduces atmospheric effects in the red band and compensates for the different ways in which near-IR and red light behaves inside and below a canopy thereby reducing the effect of soil type, soil moisture, surface litter, and snow cover.
- EVI is more sensitive to canopy structure than NDVI

Applications - Aplikasi penginderaan jauh dengan memanfaatkan Indeks Vegetasi, misalnya:

Some of the more common applications of the vegetation index include:
•Global warming/ climate
•Global biogeochemical and hydrologic modeling
•Agriculture; precision agriculture; crop stress, crop mapping
•Rangelands; water supply forecasting; grazing capacities; fuel supply
•Forestry, deforestation, and net primary production studies
•Pollution/ Health issues (rift valley fever, mosquito-producing rice fields)
•Desertification studies
•Anthropogenic change detection and landscape disturbances.

Aqua MODIS - Vegetation Index

THE WET AGRICULTURE LAND IDENTIFICATION WITH AQUA MODIS IMAGERY IN JAVA ISLAND USING TRANSFORMATION OF VEGETATION INDEX

ABSTRACT

Aqua MODIS image is one remote sensing image that is relatively new images, which has 36 bands i.e. band 1 to band 7 of the imagery has the ability to observe the land. Aqua MODIS imagery represents the land information in global scale; therefore, the entire of Java Island is selected as the research area. Aims of this research were to investigate the Aqua MODIS ability in identifying the wet agricultural land based on NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) transformation and EVI (Enhanced Vegetation Index) and to analyze the comparison of vegetation greenness level as the EVI and NDVI transformation results in wet agricultural land.

This research used Aqua MODIS image acquire remotely sensed on September 30, 2007 that has spatial resolutions at 1B level are 250 m and 500m. The other primary data that had been used was wet agricultural land data as the recently result of field checking. There were 150 samples taken using purposive sampling method. In order to assist the multispectral classification, the land cover map had been used as the supporting data. The applied method vegetation index transformation, with the formula: NDVI = (Rnir – Rred)/ (Rnir + Rred) and EVI = [(1.5 + L)*(Rnir – Rred)] / (L + Rnir + 6*Rred – 7.5*Rblue).

The result of the research displayed that the red band (0.62-0.67 μm), near infrared band (0.841-0.876 μm) and blue band (0.459-0.479μm) of the imagery were able in representing the information of wet agricultural land distribution using vegetation index based on vegetation greenness level. The relationship between vegetation greenness level as the EVI and NDVI transformation results in wet agricultural land are that EVI has higher correlation value namely r=0.887, than NDVI has, namely r=0.873, and the greenness level of wet agricultural land can be diverged sharper by the EVI imagery than NDVI one.
